Story
Back in August 2019 our world changed forever. No-one wants to hear the words "you have cancer".
Jeff was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma - 3 tumours (2 on his spine and 1 in his lung). From this day, it has been a consistent battle to fight the beast that is Melanoma.
Jeff has had good days and he has had disgustingly horrible days. We have had good scan results and we have had many tears and a few new tumours that set you back.
Cancer is so much bigger that we could have ever imagined - it has changed every part of our lives. Jeff has lost his job, his career, his ability to play golf and footy and doing daily things that we all take for granted.
His life has changed, our lives have changed, our relationship has suffered, our friendships have changed and our children's lives have changed. We live in a world of uncertainty and we live appointment to appointment, scan to scan, all the while hoping that the latest treatment is working.
We try and find the sunshine in the little things and we have sheer stealth and determination to beat the beast that is Melanoma.
Australia has the highest melanoma rates in the world. Melanoma is the most common cancer affecting 20 to 39-year-old Australians and one Aussie is diagnosed with the disease every 30 minutes. It is estimated 1300 Australians will die from melanoma this year alone.
But we need your help. We need research and we need options for people like Jeff to survive - that is not dramatic, that is a fact! Without treatment options, the cancer wins.
We know times are tough for many right now - finances are tighter than ever before, but if you could donate a few dollars and share this page or join in some fundraising at your work place it would mean the world.
We will never give up on this and we will always raise money and awareness for something that is so very close to our hearts.
Jeff, I am SO immensely proud of you - your strength, your determination, your resilience and your sense of humour are nothing short of inspirational - keep fighting, for you, for me and for our 3 babies.
